This course is useful for individuals exploring a potential career in cat grooming and considering whether to pursue more comprehensive professional grooming qualifications.
What you'll learn
Identify common cat breeds in Singapore.
Describe the basic anatomy and physiological characteristics of cats.
Identify common classification of cat coats.
Identify common skin diseases in cats.
Perform basic health inspections.
Identify signs of stress and discomfort in cats through recognition of feline behaviours and body language.
Understand and apply the key principles of the Code of Animal Welfare (Pet Industry).
Describe the core tasks in cat grooming.
Describe the benefits of regular grooming in maintaining a cat’s overall health and hygiene.
Identify basic coat types and their grooming needs.
Distinguish the use of different grooming equipment in grooming.
Identify cat-safe grooming tools and products for basic grooming procedures.
Apply safe and stress-free cat restraining techniques during grooming.
Demonstrate the ability to use grooming tools correctly.
Identify basic bathing techniques.
Demonstrate the ability to perform a basic grooming procedure on a cat, encompassing brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, eye cleaning, nose cleaning and sanitary clipping to ensure the pet's health and hygiene.
Entry requirements
The course is suitable for beginners, with no prior grooming experience needed.
