You'll also develop skills in electric vehicle charging station, solar photovoltaic system, energy storage systems, power distribution, and electrical drafting. Course duration: 1.5 years to 3 years

What you'll learn

  • Design electrical installations and prepare technical drawings

  • Install, inspect, and maintain residential, commercial, and solar electrical systems

  • Maintain and service electrical switchboards and related equipment

  • Operate and maintain power distribution and standby power systems

  • Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC circuits and electrical faults

  • Maintain electrical motors, machines, control systems, and drives

  • Install and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems

  • Maintain electric vehicle supply equipment and energy storage systems

  • Apply sustainable practices in electrical and clean energy systems

Entry requirements

3 GCE 'O' Level Grades:

  • Grade 1-8 in English Language

  • Grade 1-7 in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional)

  • Grade 1-8 in one of the approved subjects*

* The approved subjects are: Biology / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Combined Science / Computer Studies / Design & Technology / Engineering Science / Fundamentals of Electronics / Human & Social Biology / Integrated Science / Physical Science / Physics / Science (Chemistry/ Biology) / Science (Physics/Biology) / Science (Physics/Chemistry) / Science (Physics/Biology/Chemistry).

OR

  • Nitec in Technology qualifications, or

  • Nitec qualifications (Technical Skills)

  • Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Numeracy, and one year relevant work experience; or

  • Completed four Foundation modules.

Applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements will need to complete Foundation modules before taking Core/Specialisation modules.

Entry requirements for Foundation modules

  • 2 GCE 'O' Level Grades (Grade 1-8) in any two subjects; or

  • 3 GCE 'N' Level Passes (Grade A-D or Grade 1-5) in English and two other subjects; or

  • ISC qualifications (Technical Skills); or

  • Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking and Listening, and Level 4 in Reading and Numeracy.

Note:
