Course duration: 1.5 years to 3 years
What you'll learn
Design electrical installations and prepare technical drawings
Install, inspect, and maintain residential, commercial, and solar electrical systems
Maintain and service electrical switchboards and related equipment
Operate and maintain power distribution and standby power systems
Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC circuits and electrical faults
Maintain electrical motors, machines, control systems, and drives
Install and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems
Maintain electric vehicle supply equipment and energy storage systems
Apply sustainable practices in electrical and clean energy systems
Entry requirements
3 GCE 'O' Level Grades:
Grade 1-8 in English Language
Grade 1-7 in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional)
Grade 1-8 in one of the approved subjects*
* The approved subjects are: Biology / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Combined Science / Computer Studies / Design & Technology / Engineering Science / Fundamentals of Electronics / Human & Social Biology / Integrated Science / Physical Science / Physics / Science (Chemistry/ Biology) / Science (Physics/Biology) / Science (Physics/Chemistry) / Science (Physics/Biology/Chemistry).
OR
Nitec in Technology qualifications, or
Nitec qualifications (Technical Skills)
Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Numeracy, and one year relevant work experience; or
Completed four Foundation modules.
Applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements will need to complete Foundation modules before taking Core/Specialisation modules.
Entry requirements for Foundation modules
2 GCE 'O' Level Grades (Grade 1-8) in any two subjects; or
3 GCE 'N' Level Passes (Grade A-D or Grade 1-5) in English and two other subjects; or
ISC qualifications (Technical Skills); or
Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking and Listening, and Level 4 in Reading and Numeracy.
Note:
Applicants should possess normal colour vision. Those with colour vision deficiency may face difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. Interested applicants with colour vision deficiency are advised to consult with the manager of course to assess the suitability of the course.
