Learn how to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair essential equipment in line with industry codes and engineering standards. Course duration: 1.5 years to 3 years
What you'll learn
Maintain and replace lift and escalator equipment
Diagnose and troubleshoot defects and faults in lift and escalator
Repair/replace faulty components and recommission lift and escalator
Assist lift engineer in the installation, testing, adjustment and commissioning of lift and escalator
Assist lift/ escalator inspector in the inspection of lift and escalator
Entry requirements
3 GCE 'O' Level Grades:
Grade 1-8 in English Language
Grade 1-7 in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional)
Grade 1-8 in one of the approved subjects*
* The approved subjects are: Biology / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Combined Science / Computer Studies / Design & Technology / Engineering Science / Fundamentals of Electronics / Human & Social Biology / Integrated Science / Physical Science / Physics / Science (Chemistry/ Biology) / Science (Physics/Biology) / Science (Physics/Chemistry) / Science (Physics/Biology/Chemistry).
OR
Nitec in Technology qualifications, or
Nitec qualifications (Technical Skills)
Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Numeracy, and one year relevant work experience; or
Completed four Foundation modules.
Applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements will need to complete Foundation modules before taking Core/Specialisation modules.
Entry requirements for Foundation modules
Completed GCE 'N'; or
Completed GCE 'O'; or
Passed BEST Module 4 in Mathematics (for those with work experience); or
Passed ISC qualifications (Technical Skills); or
Accumulated at least 60 hours of structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) under the Certified On-the-Job Training Centre (COJTC) system. The OJT must be relevant to the course applied for; or
Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking and Listening, and Level 4 in Reading and Numeracy.
Note:
Applicants for this course must ensure that they are free from colour appreciation deficiency.
