Discover the fundamentals of sport climbing in this introductory course, which requires no prior experience. Participants will learn essential skills, including equipment usage, belaying, basic knots, and climbing techniques. The course leads to the Singapore National Climbing Standard (SNCS) Level 1 Certificate, accredited by Singapore Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Federation.
Target audience
Members of the public aged 13 and above with a keen interest in learning the basic techniques of sport climbing.
What you'll learn
Correct harness usage
Correct tie-in technique using the figure-of-8 knot
Correct belay technique using a friction device
Appropriate use of climbing calls
Performing pre-climb checks
Basic climbing techniques, including:
Use of handholds: pinch, grip, underhand, side pull, sloper, pocket
Use of footholds: edging, smearing
Fees
The fee for this course can be paid using the Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds and SkillsFuture Credits.
