This course teaches you to use horticulture activities and interaction with nature to improve your client's or ward's physiological, cognitive, social, and emotional wellbeing through active and passive participation.
Course duration: 7 hours
What you'll learn
Introduction to therapeutic horticulture as a therapeutic modality.
Participants would be introduced to the typical challenges and symptoms associated with the diagnosis/disability.
Participants would then discuss and identify the therapeutic needs of 2 groups: children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and children with Down Syndrome and set appropriate goals for each group.
An example of an activity will be provided, and participants will learn about methods to incorporate their goals into the activity.
