Do you have a keen interest in art, culture, sports and outdoor activities? Singapore has a vibrant recreational landscape that promotes work-life balance, active ageing & community bonding.

Course duration: 30 months

Through this diploma, you will gain skills and knowledge needed to plan, conceptualise, implement and evaluate lifestyle recreation programmes for members of the public and/or private clubs and lifestyle & recreation organisations.

Prerequisite

Outgoing and pro-active individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skill. Willing to work on a flexible work-week including weekends, evenings and public holidays. Possess excellent problem solving and multitasking skills in effectively handling multiple and concurrent tasks.

Job role

The Lifestyle & Recreation Executive plans, conceptualises, executes and evaluates lifestyle recreation programme for members of the private club and lifestyle & recreation organisation, in areas of sports, recreation and events. He/She will need to develop and maintain good relationships with members and customers, liaise with other staff members to ensure service standards are upheld, and gather feedback to provide ideas for operational and service improvement.

Work-study training pattern

Day Release - One day of classroom lessons per week at ITE, with the remaining work-week spent at the workplace for On-the-Job Training.

What you'll learn

Handle work place communication
Design and deliver quality service
Use risk management tool to conduct risk assessment
Manage, operate and maintain recreation facilities and equipment
Design, plan and organise pro-social, recreational and leisure programme
Apply project management skill and lead a team to complete recreation project
Use productivity tools for business documents, leverage on data analytic tools to generate dashboard for review and evaluation
Apply consumers’ behavioural insights to design commercial recreation activity, and leverage on social platforms to implement digital marketing strategy

Entry requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;
- Nitec with GPA ≥ 2
  - All Courses from School of Business & Services
  - Hospitality Operations
- Higher Nitec:
  - All Courses from School of Business & Services
  - Hospitality Operations

In-service employees⁺ with:
1. Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
2. Minimum 18 years old with at least 2 years of full-time relevant work experience
3. Strong employer endorsement

⁺In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

Work-Study Diploma in Lifestyle & Recreation Management graduates are employed by organisations in the leisure and recreation sector.
