Our diploma course will prepare you for a career in the Engineering Services sector. You will learn how to operate and maintain smart mechanical systems and manage risks and quality. This training can lead to jobs in industries like manufacturing, transport, electronics, construction, and petrochemicals.
What Does an Assistant Engineer Do?
An Assistant Engineer plays a key role in making sure mechanical systems work well. They design, install, maintain, and repair these systems, ensuring everything meets engineering standards and rules. They also inspect, operate, test, and supervise mechanical installations to keep them running smoothly.
Training pattern
Day Release - Trainees attend lessons at ITE for one day per a week and spend the remainder of the work-week at the workplace for OJT.

What you'll learn
Install, maintain and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and smart systems
Implement, monitor quality control and system management and continuously work on system improvement and optimization.
Perform system and equipment risk & reliability analysis and manage risks effectively.
Manage engineering activities to maximise resources and minimise equipment downtime
ensuring the optimal operating condition of the mechanical system
Develop leadership qualities in order to champion work place projects
Entry requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:
ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;
Nitec with GPA ≥ 2:
All courses from School of Engineering
Higher Nitec:
All courses from School of Engineering
OR
In-service employees+ with:
Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
Relevant work experience
Strong employer endorsement
+In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview
Career opportunities
On completion of this diploma programme, you can take up jobs as Assistant Engineers.
