Job role

An Assistant Engineer supports semiconductor manufacturing operations by monitoring and analysing equipment and process performance, executing automation, and assisting in maintenance and improvement activities to ensure high equipment reliability, process stability and optimal manufacturing outcomes.

The work he/she performs may include the following:

Perform semiconductor manufacturing protocol in accordance with industry and workplace standards.
Apply semiconductor manufacturing technologies, including metrology measurements, process optimisation, and parameter tuning
Monitor and analyse equipment and process performance, including statistical process control, and support quality improvement using data analytics
Implement IoT systems for equipment monitoring, process visibility, and operational improvement
Conduct system maintenance and assist in executing maintenance plans to enhance equipment performance and reliability
Analyse process parameters and evaluate process capability
Perform automation and robotic controls to support efficient manufacturing processes
Contribute to project planning and improvement initiatives by applying problem-solving and analytical skills.

Work-study training pattern

Hybrid Release - Alternating between blocks of daily classroom lessons and one to two days of weekly lessons at ITE, with the remaining work-week spent at the workplace for On-the-Job Training.

Entry requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;
- Nitec with GPA ≥ 2:
  - All courses from School of Engineering
  - All courses from School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology
- Higher Nitec:
  - All courses from School of Engineering
  - All courses from School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology

In-service employees⁺ with:
- Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
- Minimum 18 years old with at least 2 years of full-time relevant work experience
- Strong employer endorsement

⁺In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

Work-Study Diploma in Microelectronics graduates are employed by major companies in the wafer fabrication plants, and assembly and test operation sector.

Graduates may be assigned to more specific roles in process or equipment, holding the titles of Assistant Process/Equipment Engineer.
