Job role
An Optician (Dip) is an eye care professional who prescribes and dispenses optical aids, manages refractive errors and provides good ophthalmic solutions. He/she may work in a variety of settings such as independent or joint practice, in a hospital, eye care centre, optical laboratory or retail store.
Work-study training pattern
Day Release - One to two days of classroom lessons per week at ITE, with the remaining work-week spent at the workplace for On-the-Job Training.

What you'll learn

Entry requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:
ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;
Nitec in Opticianry graduates with GPA ≥ 2
OR
In-service employees+ with:
Equivalent qualifications:
ACOPOD+R, and
Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
Relevant work experience of at least 1 year
Employer recommendation letter
+In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

On completion of this diploma programme, you can take up jobs as Optician (Dip).
