Discover the fundamentals of sport climbing in this introductory course, which requires no prior experience. Participants will learn essential skills, including equipment usage, belaying, basic knots, and climbing techniques. The course leads to the Singapore National Climbing Standard (SNCS) Level 1 Certificate, accredited by Singapore Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Federation.

 

The fee for this course can be paid using the Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds and SkillsFuture Credits.

What you'll learn

- Correct harness usage

- Correct tie-in technique using the figure-of-8 knot

- Correct belay technique using a friction device

- Appropriate use of climbing calls

- Performing pre-climb checks

- Basic climbing techniques, including:

  • Use of handholds: pinch, grip, underhand, side pull, sloper, pocket
  • Use of footholds: edging, smearing
