The Work-Study Diploma in Automation Engineering adopts a work-study approach, combining hands-on industry training with academic learning to prepare you for a dynamic career in the fast-growing field of industrial automation.

Through this programme, you will gain practical skills and technical knowledge in automation systems, robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial IoT (IIoT).

You will learn to design, troubleshoot, and maintain automated systems, ensuring efficiency and reliability in manufacturing and smart industry applications.

 

Prerequisite:

  • A strong willingness to learn and grow in your career is crucial for success
  • Free from colour vision deficiency is important to ensure you can handle all tasks effectively

 

Job Role:

An Assistant Automation Engineer is one who sets up automated equipment and systems, including assembly, integration, testing, inspection, as well as carrying out maintenance and troubleshooting activities to ensure optimum performance in production to meet organisational objectives.

 

Work-Study Training pattern:

Block Release - Alternating between blocks of daily classroom lessons at ITE and periods of On-the-Job Training at the workplace.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;

    Nitec with GPA ≥ 2:

    • All Courses from School of Engineering & School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology

    Higher Nitec:

    • All Courses from School of Engineering & School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement

    +In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

Note: Applicants applying for this course must be free from colour appreciation deficiency.  A score of 100% from the Colour Blindness Test taken here is mandatory for course admission.

Work-Study Diploma in Automation Engineering graduates are employed as Assistant/Associate Engineer.
