Cultivate your Urban Farming skills

Urban farming is becoming a big part of improving food security in Singapore and is a fun hobby you can enjoy at home. This course will teach you how to prepare planting media, seed, grow, and harvest different types of microgreens. You will enjoy the hands-on experience of bringing farming into your own living space.

Harvest fresh microgreens at home

By the end of this module, you will know how to grow, care for, and harvest edible microgreens easily. These mini vegetables can be used to make healthy salads or add a tasty twist to your meals and drinks. With your new skills, you can embrace the 'farm to table' concept and enjoy fresh, home-grown greens.

Learning outcomes

Explore the future of Urban Farming

In the theory lessons, you will learn about Singapore's Green Plan 2030 and why food security is important. You will explore urban farming strategies, soil and planting techniques, and learn about common pests and diseases. The course will also cover different types of compost and fertiliser, focusing on growing microgreens and leafy greens.

Get hands-on with growing microgreens

In the practical lessons, you will gain hands-on experience by selecting and preparing the right materials, tools, and equipment. You will learn how to prepare planting media, plant seeds, and maintain your crops. By the end, you will be able to harvest fresh microgreens, ready to enjoy your own home-grown produce.
