The Higher Nitec course is designed to provide students with the latest knowledge and skills required to succeed in the modern marine industry. Focused on the rapidly evolving maritime sector, it covers the comprehensive aspects of marine systems, from design to troubleshooting and sustainability, while integrating the most recent advancements in Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies. Students will be trained to perform vital functions within marine engineering, ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability within the industry.
What you'll learn
Perform quality control checks
Fabricate marine pipes and structures
Perform maintenance of ship control systems
Troubleshoot faults in marine propulsion and auxiliary systems
Service components of marine systems
Perform marine piping and structural design
Perform marine electrical and HVAC systems design
Produce basic naval architecture drawings and reports
Perform commissioning of marine system
Deploy I4.0 technologies in marine system
Implement sustainability measures.
Entry requirements
Admission to Year 1 of the 3-year curriculum structure:
GCE ‘O’ level grades in any 2 subjects:
Grade 1-8
OR
GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics or Science* and 2 other subjects:
Grade A-D or Grade 1-5
* Mobile Robotics, Smart Electrical Technology, Mechanical Design & Automation, IoT Applications, and Mobile Web Applications subjects can be used in lieu of Science for admission to this Higher Nitec course.
Students will be required to purchase a laptop for the course. This is in addition to the course fees. Financial assistance is available to eligible students under ITE Opportunity Fund subject to terms and conditions.
