This course equips trainees with skills, knowledge and professional attributes to inspect, troubleshoot, maintain and repair aircraft structure, systems (mechanical, electrical and avionics) and associated components using appropriate methods and techniques in accordance with approved procedures and regulations to ensure airworthiness of aircraft.  

Additionally, trainees will acquire the skills to perform essential aircraft flight line maintenance procedures, including aircraft launch and recovery operations, first-line inspections on aircraft structures, aircraft repositioning, jacking, lowering and aircraft routine servicing.

 

Prerequisite:

  • Free from colour appreciation deficiency

 

Job Role:

An Aircraft Maintenance Technician is one who  inspect, repair, and perform scheduled maintenance on aircraft in compliance with CAAS and company standards, diagnosing issues and consulting technical documents to resolve problems in collaboration with technicians and engineers. Maintain detailed records of repairs, inventories, and operations while adhering to strict safety and environmental procedures. Implement basic preventive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize aircraft serviceability, and administer quality control to conform to management, safety, and regulatory requirements during all operations.

 

Work-Study Training pattern:

Day Release - One day of classroom lessons per week at ITE, with the remaining work-week spent at the workplace for On-the-Job Training.

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses;

    Nitec with GPA ≥ 2:

    • Aerospace Avionics
    • Aerospace Technology
    • Electrical Technology (Power & Control)
    • Electrical Technology (Lighting & Sound)
    • Electronics, Computer Networking & Communications
    • Electronics & Internet of Things
    • Mechatronics & Robotics
    • Mechanical Technology
    • Vertical Transportation

    Higher Nitec:

    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Robotics & Smart Systems
    • Engineering with Business
    • Vertical Transportation

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement

    +In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

Applicants must also be free from colour appreciation deficiency and pass company screening and interview.

Career Opportunities

Work-Study Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering graduates are predominantly employed by aerospace companies and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) providers as Aircraft Technicians. Career advancement prospects improve as graduates gain experience and enhance their skills and knowledge. Graduates may progress to roles such as Senior Aircraft Technician, Lead Technician, Aircraft Engineer and Supervisor.
