1. Full-Time Education
Direct Entry Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP)
Appeal Process
1. If I do not get posted to a DPP Higher Nitec course during the main application phase, can I appeal for another DPP course? What are the appeal procedures?
Applicants can submit an appeal via the ITE website (http://www.ite.edu.sg) after the release of the DPP application results. Actual dates of the appeal period will be published on the ITE website upon release of the 2024 GCE N-Level examination results.
Application & Acceptance
1. How do I apply for the DPP?
Upon the release of the GCE N-Level examination results, eligible Secondary 4N(A) students can apply for the DPP using their GCE N-Level examination results and school-based O-Level preliminary examination results (if applicable). Upon release of the DPP posting results, students who have been offered a place must indicate acceptance of the offer by end December, failing which the offer will lapse and the place will be offered to another student. More information on the admission procedures can be found in the DPP admissions webpage (https://www.ite.edu.sg/admissions/full-time-courses/higher-nitec-dpp).
Eligible Secondary 4N(A) students who have sat for both GCE N- and GCE O-Level examination subjects in 2024 may also apply for the DPP.
Successful applicants will be posted to respective DPP 2-year Higher Nitec courses, which will commence in January 2025. Students who have received and accepted a DPP offer by end 2024 need not report for Secondary 5 on 2 January 2025.
2. Can I use my school-based O-Level preliminary results to apply for DPP?
Yes. Secondary 4N(A) students can combine their GCE N-Level examination results and school-based O-Level preliminary examination results to apply for the DPP. Students who are successful in their DPP application will receive an offer for a DPP course. If a student takes the same subject at both N- and O-Levels, only the better grade will be used for computation of his/her ELMAB3 aggregate. Upon the release of the GCE O-Level examination results, ITE will verify if DPP applicants who had previously used school-based preliminary examination results for admission have fulfilled the necessary criteria for continuation in the DPP.
3. Can Secondary 4 N(A) students who are newly eligible for DPP after the release of the GCE O-Level results apply for the DPP using a combination of their GCE O- and N-Level results?
Yes, after the release of the GCE O-Level results in January 2025, students who were not previously eligible but are now eligible will also be allowed to apply for the DPP.
4. How many course choices do I have?
Eligible students are allowed to submit up to 12 DPP course choices in their application. Similar 2-year Higher Nitec courses conducted at different ITE Colleges are considered as separate choices (e.g. Higher Nitec in Electronics Engineering at ITE College East and Higher Nitec in Electronics Engineering at ITE College Central are taken as two choices). Students are strongly encouraged to consider their course choices carefully together with their parents and teachers, and make decisions in line with their interests and aptitudes.
5. I am interested in both the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) and the DPP. What should I do, given that the DPP application is in December and the PFP application is in January?
Before applying for the PFP and/or the DPP, students are encouraged to consider carefully their interests and strengths, as well as the courses offered under both programmes. For more information on the PFP and DPP, as well as the courses offered, students may refer to the PFP website (https://pfp.polytechnic.edu.sg/PFP/index.html) or the DPP website (https://www.ite.edu.sg/admissions/full-time-courses/higher-nitec-dpp/). One option for Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students who are interested in both the PFP and DPP is to first progress to Secondary 5 and then apply for both the PFP and DPP upon release of the GCE O-Level examination results in January.
6. Can I apply for both the PFP and DPP at the same time in January?
Yes. However, if the student is offered a place in both the PFP and DPP, he/she must choose between both offers and accept only one course offer. He/she will not be allowed to accept both course offers.
7. When will I know my application results for the DPP?
Dates for release of the DPP application results will be published on the ITE website upon release of the 2024 GCE N-Level examination results. Applicants are required to log into the ITE website (https://istudent.ite.edu.sg) to check their results. Successful applicants have to accept the offer during the acceptance period stated in ITE website. If they do not accept the offer during that stipulated period for course acceptance, they are deemed to have forfeited their DPP offer.
8. Can I apply for Higher Nitec courses under the DPP and Nitec under the Joint Intake Exercise at the same time?
Yes, applicants can submit separate applications to 2-year Higher Nitec courses under the DPP JIE 'H' and Nitec/3-year Higher Nitec courses under the JIE 'N'. However, once an applicant is successful for a DPP 2-year Higher Nitec course, he/she will not be offered a Nitec/3-year Higher Nitec course.
9. Why can't all students be offered a course of their choice?
Admission to DPP courses are highly competitive and based on merit. Students may speak to ITE's course counsellors or Education and Career Guidance Counsellors to learn more about the various DPP Higher Nitec courses. Students can also choose not to accept DPP offers that were not among their choices, and instead progress to Secondary 5 - this allows them the option of re-applying for admission into a course of their choice in the polytechnics or ITE through either the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) or Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE).
10. Are there courses that are suitable for students with specific learning needs?
Students with special educational needs are advised to consult the respective ITE Colleges Learning Accessibility Office to discuss the range of DPP courses that meet their needs before submitting their DPP application. More details on the Learning Accessibility Office may be found on the ITE website.

ITE Early Admissions Exercise (ITE EAE)
Admission Requirements
1. What are the minimum entry requirements (MERs) for students sitting for the N- or O-Level examinations, and ITE Nitec students, for their ITE EAE conditional offers to be confirmed?
Secondary school students are not required to have a minimum aggregate score to have their Higher Nitec conditional offers confirmed. Students would only be required to meet the course-specific MERs for their conditional offers to be confirmed.
Nitec students applying for Higher Nitec courses under the ITE EAE have to meet the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements of the Higher Nitec course they are applying for. Higher Nitec courses from the Schools of Design & Media, Electronics & Info-Comm Technology and Engineering require a net GPA of 2.3 or better while the Higher Nitec courses from the Schools of Health Sciences, Business & Services and Hospitality require a net GPA of 2.8 or better. For example, a Nitec in Mechanical Technology student would have to attain a net GPA of 2.3 and 2.8 or better for admission to the Higher Nitec in Mechanical Engineering (School of Engineering) and Business Administration (School of Business & Services) courses respectively.
The course-specific MERs and GPA requirement help to ensure that students admitted via the ITE EAE will be able to cope with the rigour of their course of study and that all students admitted to an ITE course have met the same baseline eligibility requirements.
2. For secondary school students who have already been offered a place through the ITE EAE, why do they still need to take their N- or O-Level examinations? Why are they not allowed to proceed directly to ITE?
While interest in a field of study is important, students must still have an adequate foundation in order to cope with the rigour of the course. Student performance in the N- or O-Level examinations is a reflection of whether they have acquired the necessary foundation.
Thus, even though students may have secured a conditional offer for an ITE place through the ITE EAE, this conditional offer will only be confirmed if they meet the minimum entry requirements (MERs), including subject-specific requirements, for admission to ITE based on their N- or O-Level examination results.
3. Why are secondary school students still required to meet subject-specific requirements for the ITE EAE?
Secondary school students with ITE EAE conditional offers need not participate in other admissions exercises (JIE or JAE) and are not required to compete for a place based on their results. However, they are still required to meet the subject-specific requirements to ensure that students admitted via ITE EAE will be able to cope with the rigour of their course of study. This ensures that all students admitted to an ITE course have met the same baseline eligibility requirements.
4. For Nitec students who are keen on progressing to a Higher Nitec course, why do they still need to take their ITE final examinations when they have already been offered a place through the ITE EAE?
While interest in a field of study is important, students must still have an adequate foundation in order to cope with the rigour of the Higher Nitec courses. While Nitec students with ITE EAE conditional offers need not participate in Nitec Progression to Higher Nitec (NCHN), they should still have acquired the necessary foundation, for which the student’s final Nitec GPA is a reflection of. Thus, even though students may have secured a conditional offer for a Higher Nitec place through the ITE EAE, this conditional offer will only be confirmed if they meet the MERs for admission to the Higher Nitec course offered, based on their final Nitec GPA.
5. What happens if students do not meet the MERs?
Students who do not meet the MERs will have their conditional offers revoked.
N- or O-Level students whose conditional offers are revoked will be able to apply for admission to ITE through the Joint Intake Exercise or Joint Admissions Exercise. Nitec students whose conditional offers are revoked may apply for admission to Higher Nitec courses during the NCHN Intake Exercise (or appeals phase for those who did not meet minimum GPA required for progression to a mapped course).
Application Process
1. How many course choices are students allowed to submit?
Students can apply for a maximum of 3 course choices. Please note that the same course offered at different ITE Colleges are considered separate choices. For example, 3-year Higher Nitec in Electronics Engineering at ITE College Central (1st choice), Higher Nitec in Facilities Management & Engineering at ITE College East (2nd choice) and Higher Nitec in Facilities Management & Engineering at ITE College West (3rd choice).
If an applicant applies for the same course across two or more ITE Colleges, only one interview will be conducted.
2. Why does ITE conduct interviews?
Interviews allow ITE to better determine students’ interest and aptitude in a particular area, for example, through interaction with the student and hearing directly from them on why they wish to enrol in their chosen courses, and having them present their portfolios to the interview panel.
In addition to interviews, ITE may also utilise other modes of assessment to identify course-specific aptitude and interest of applicants, such as portfolios, and aptitude tests, where relevant and appropriate to the specific course.
3. How will applicants know if they are shortlisted for interview?
Shortlisted applicants will be notified via email/phone call or SMS by the respective ITE Colleges about the dates for interview(s).
4. What supporting documents are required during the selection interview?
Applicants who are shortlisted are required to prepare the following documents when they attend the remote selection interviews or report to the ITE College for interview.
Supporting documents required during selection interview
N- or O-Level applicants | Nitec applicants |
|
|
5. How will the applicant know the result of the ITE EAE application?
The applicant can log in to https://istudent.ite.edu.sg to check the application outcome online between Mon 25 Aug 2025 and Fri 29 Aug 2025.
6. How does the successful applicant indicate acceptance of the ITE EAE conditional offer?
Successful ITE EAE applicants will receive a Letter of Offer via email from the ITE Admissions Department. They would have to log in to https://istudent.ite.edu.sg to accept the offer online within the acceptance period (between Mon 25 Aug 2025 and Fri 29 Aug 2025). Only one course will be offered and there will be no appeals for other courses after the release of the EAE application outcome.
Conditional ITE EAE offers that are not accepted by the deadline given, will be released.
Enhanced ITE Curricular Structure
1. Which are the courses currently available under the enhanced ITE curricular structure?
The courses under the enhanced ITE curricular structure available for the AY2026 intake via EAE are listed in the table below
