This diploma course prepares you for a professional career in the supply chain and logistics sectors. You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to manage warehousing, transportation and freight operations, leverage on data analytics and technology to provide logistical solution, and implement process improvement at the workplace.

Prerequisite:

Stable, systematic and logical. He/she is expected to work with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish his/her work. He/she should also be comfortable working in warehouse environment whereby the workforce is predominately male and experienced. 

Those with forklift license or experience with other material-handling equipment (MHE) may have an advantage at work. 

Job Role:

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating general warehouse operations and activities including shipping and receiving deliveries, conducting stock checks, documenting warehouse transactions and records, and storing of inventory. He/she is also responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the MHE.  

The Customer Service Coordinator is responsible for the order fulfilment process, which includes handling point of sales inquiries, order processing, shipment and delivery of orders to the customer. He/She is also responsible for engaging diverse customers, through the use of customer relationship management systems and assist customers in fulfilling orders and understand customer needs. 

The Traffic/Dispatch Coordinator is responsible for supporting the execution of general transportation operations and activities including transport fleet management documentation, receiving and communicating schedules to transport operators and cargo loaders, and gathering general information from customers to support transport order fulfilments. 

He/she in the above job roles can expect to be trained and exposed to different aspects of Logistics and Supply Chain tasks, beyond their job scope described above.

What you'll learn

  • Apply negotiation, planning and global sourcing skills when handling customers and suppliers.
  • Monitor logistics technology trends on productivity, minimising costs and errors in supply chain management.
  • Advise clients and customers on various transportation modes to move goods efficiently globally through air, sea, land or rail logistics.
  • Apply industry best practices when performing purchasing duties, handling purchasing documentation and applying performance measurement in purchasing.
  • Apply inventory management principles in inventory control, inventory and forecasting systems and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to manage inventory levels.
  • Apply warehouse management concepts to handle daily warehouse activities, plan processes, manage costing and implement efficient customer service in warehousing.
  • Analyse data drawn from various activities in the supply chain, apply productivity tools and techniques to measure, improve and benchmark the organisation’s performance.
  • Apply techniques to select and manage suppliers, conduct financial and operational analysis of suppliers for assurance of supplier compliance to procurement specifications.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;
    • Nitec with GPA ≥ 2
      • All Courses
    • Higher Nitec:
      • All Courses

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement

+In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

Work-Study Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management graduates are employed by logistics, supply chain or transportation companies. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Warehouse Supervisor, Supply Chain Executive, Transport Officer, Logistics Specialist and Logistics Supervisor.
