Build on your Nitec or Higher Nitec qualification

Your ITE qualification is a foundation you can continue to build on. Whether you are approaching graduation or returning as a former student, you have opportunities to deepen your technical expertise, pursue a diploma, enter a more specialised role or continue to further education. The pathways open to you depend on your qualification, Grade Point Average (GPA), feeder-course relationship and the entry requirements of the course you are considering.

Pathway

Pathway	What it offers	What to verify
Full-time *Higher Nitec* (opens in new tab)	Progression from a relevant Nitec qualification.	The 2-year Higher Nitec courses you can progress to from your Nitec qualification, the net Nitec GPA you need to be eligible, and any course-specific requirement such as medical examination and colour-appreciation.
Full-time Technical Engineer Diploma / Technical Diploma (opens in new tab)	Full-time specialised diploma training, including international co-development or exposure in selected programmes.	Relevant qualification, GPA, experience and course-specific selection.
Work-Study Diploma (opens in new tab)	Employment, salary and employee benefits while completing a nationally recognised diploma.	Relevant Nitec GPA of at least 2.0 or relevant Higher Nitec for fresh/in-employment graduates; in-service workers must be employer-nominated, aged 18 or above, with WPLN Level 5 or above and at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
