Mid-career Switchers
I want to gain new skills for a different job or industry.
Reskill for a different occupation or sector
Changing career direction can be a significant step, but you do not have to start from zero. Your existing experience, strengths and transferable skills can support your move into a different occupation or sector. Whether you are responding to industry change, returning to the workforce or seeking a more sustainable direction, begin by identifying your target occupation and comparing its entry-level skill requirements with what you already bring.

Earn a diploma through employment and structured workplace learning. | Available to eligible ITE Nitec and Higher Nitec graduates and employer-nominated in-service workers who meet the published qualification, work-experience and employer conditions. The programme is generally 2.5 years, or 3 years for Nursing. |
Plan for the transition
Check whether the programme leads directly to the occupation you are targeting.
Consider the effect of full-time or part-time study on income and caregiving responsibilities.
Confirm whether the course qualifies for SkillsFuture Credit, Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy or a training allowance.
Age is an important eligibility factor for some support schemes. Course, citizenship, employment and other scheme conditions may also apply, so check the full criteria for the support you are considering.
