ITE’s Category A Elective Modules (CAT A EM) are short courses developed to broaden the learning experiences of MOE students. The 30-hour programme will introduce students to ITE’s full-time Nitec and Higher Nitec courses, as well as expose them to possible educational progression and career pathways, thereby enabling them to make more informed choices upon graduation from secondary schools. Through the hands-on practical sessions, students will have the opportunity to discover how the knowledge and skills learnt can be applied to related industries.

From 2022, the CAT A EM will be progressively converted to Applied Learning Modules (ApLM@ITE) which run for 22.5 hours over 3 days.  Both CAT A EM and ApLM@ITE are offered concurrently to secondary schools. More details on the module offerings and availability can be found here

Students who have achieved a pass grade in the in-course assessment and attended at least 3 or 2 days respectively for CAT A EM and ApLM@ITE will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement and one advanced standing credit for exemption from elective modules in ITE’s full-time Nitec programme. A maximum of 2 credit units can be accumulated for an elective course exemption in the Nitec programme.
