Our donors’ kindness made all the difference to them

Wan Nuristighfarah

Wan Nuristighfarah Wan Azhar, a Higher Nitec in Shipping Operations & Services student, is a beneficiary of financial support from Changi Foundation.

“My parents are divorced and my mother is left to look after all her four children. She earns about $800 a month as a kindergarten assistant. We live in a one-room flat but at least now I need not travel daily in and out of Johor, which was what we used to do. I got into ITE but thought of quitting to help my mother support our family. Fortunately, I can continue in ITE with the help of the bursary. I believe that when I graduate with an ITE certificate, I will be able to find a good job and support my siblings through their schooling.”

Mark Shaun

Mark Shaun Fernandez, a student in Nitec in Food & Beverage Operations, is a recipient of financial assistance from Toh Kian Chui Foundation.

“My father has passed away and my mother has to work to support me and my two siblings. It was not easy. As the only boy in the family, I felt tremendous pressure to help support my family. So I took up a part-time job but had to work from 7pm to 3am. I was very relieved when my teacher told me about the help available from Toh Kian Chui Foundation. Now, I don’t need to ask my mother for pocket money and feel guilty about adding to her burden. I will study hard to get good results and make my mother proud.”
