This course equips students with the skills and knowledge to perform various accounting tasks for work in the commercial, industrial and public sectors.

The course duration is 2 to 4 years.  

What you'll learn

  • Handle oral and written communication in a business/workplace environment.
  • Generate reports from the accounting system for business decision making.
  • Prepare cost accounts.
  • Prepare final accounts for various entities.
  • Prepare Goods and Services Tax Return.
  • Produce office documents using multiple software.
  • Provide quality customer service.

Entry Requirements

3 GCE ‘O’ Level Grades:

(i) Grade 1-7 in English Language;

(ii) Grade 1-8 in Mathematics (Elementary/Additional) or Principles of Accounts;

(iii) Grade 1-7 in one of the other subject.

 

Applicants must have sat for Mathematics (Elementary/Additional).

 

OR

 

Nitec in Services qualifications (excluding Nitec in Services - Digital Animation, Product Design, Space Design, Visual Communication); or

Nitec qualifications (Business/Services Skills); or

Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Numeracy, and one year relevant work experience; or

Completed four Foundation modules.

 

 

Applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements will need to complete Foundation modules before taking Core/Specialisation modules.

 

Entry requirements for Foundation modules:

2 GCE 'O' Level Grades (Grade 1-8) in any two subjects; or

3 GCE 'N' Level Passes (Grade A-D or Grade 1-5) in English Language and two other subjects; or

Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking and Listening, and Level 4 in Reading, Writing and Numeracy.

Higher Nitec in Services – Accounting graduates are employed by government agencies, statutory boards and private sector companies. Some job titles held are Accounts Associate, Accounts Assistant and Finance Assistant. Career advancement prospects will improve when graduates acquire experience and upgrade their skills and knowledge with higher-level courses.
