Are you curious about how technology can improve vegetable farming and fish farming? Our diploma programme teaches you how to use modern tools like sensors, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT) to make urban farming more efficient and sustainable. You will learn to manage these systems and use data to boost productivity and innovation in the agri-food industry.

 

Prerequisite
Motivated and eager to try new farming techniques. Quick thinking and problem-solving are important, as this field is new and always changing. If you are open-minded and ready to adapt, this programme could be the perfect fit for you!



Job Role
An Agri/Aquaculture Technologist is one who automates and manages urban agriculture and aquaculture systems with the deployment of sensors & control systems, robotics, Internet-of-Things, information technology and data analytics to achieve highly productive, innovative and sustainable agri-food industry.

 

Training pattern:

Day Release - Trainees attend lessons at ITE for two day per a week and spend the remainder of the work-week at the workplace for OJT.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;

    Nitec with GPA ≥ 2 or Higher Nitec:

    • School of Business & Services – Floristry course only
    • School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology
    • School of Engineering

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement

+In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

Career Opportunities

Work-Study Diploma in Agriculture & Aquaculture Technology graduates are employed by government agencies, statutory boards and private organisations in the agriculture and aquaculture industry. 

Some job titles held are agriculture / aquaculture technologist and team leader. Career advancement prospect will improve when graduates acquire experience and upgrade their skills and knowledge.
