Enhancing Workforce Skills through Workplace Training
More companies in the process, construction & maintenance industry are upskilling their employees at the workplace through the ITE Workplace Training Centre (WTC) scheme.
Launched in January 2024 in collaboration with the Singapore Chemical Industry Council, the WTC scheme has grown significantly. Today 69 WTCs across 13 companies are offering 22 Certificates of Competency (CoCs) to provide employees with practical, industry-relevant training.
Designed to make skills training more accessible and practical, the WTC scheme enables companies to embed structured training into daily operations. Employees benefit from hands-on learning while earning industry-recognised CoCs, boosting their technical competencies, job performance, and career advancement prospects. Companies can apply for multiple CoCs and establish WTCs within their organisations, ensuring training is tailored to their specific needs.

To date, over 1,300 workers have benefitted from the scheme. This initiative reflects ITE’s commitment to workforce transformation and lifelong learning. By equipping workers with in-demand skills, the WTC scheme not only increases productivity but also strengthens the industry's talent pipeline, driving overall growth and competitiveness in the process, construction & maintenance sector.
