On 6 November 2020, the five polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) celebrated the first Poly-ITE Staff Appreciation Day to recognise all academic and non-academic staff for their instrumental role in guiding and supporting students.
Henceforth, the Poly-ITE Staff Appreciation Day will be a permanent feature in the polytechnic and ITE academic calendar. It will be held on the first Friday of November in subsequent years.
To mark the inaugural Staff Appreciation Day, Second Minister for Education Dr Maliki Osman visited the celebration at ITE College West. He also witnessed the celebrations at the polytechnics via videoconference.
A suite of student-led activities has been organised across the polytechnics and ITE Colleges to celebrate this special occasion. Under the present circumstances, the on-campus celebrations also featured strict safe management measures to safeguard the well-being of staff and students.
In addition, numerous appreciation notes, social media posts and tribute videos have made their way onto digital platforms to thank educators and staff for their unwavering support in nurturing and inspiring our youth.
