Through the ITE Certified On-the-Job Training Centre (COJTC) Scheme, ITE has partnered industry to train an average of 35,000 workers annually. On 12 November 2019, ITE celebrated 25 years of uplifting the skill level of the workforce since 1994. Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry was the Guest-of-Honour for the Ceremony held at the Tay Eng Soon Convention Centre, ITE Headquarters.

The increase in the number of companies under the COJTC Scheme underscores the growth of the Scheme itself. There has been a rise from 14 companies in 1994, when the Scheme first started, to some 300 companies having the COJTC status today. Companies under the COJTC Scheme have generally found the Scheme’s structured framework for On-the-Job Training (OJT) to be effective in enhancing the skills of their workforce. Twenty companies (listed at Annex) received the COJTC Distinguished Partner Award during the Ceremony.  These Award Recipients exemplify dedication and commitment towards the training and development of their employees.

Enlighted Sales and Service Pte. Ltd. is one of the companies that achieved the COJTC Distinguished Partner Award. The company’s Business Development Director, Mr Edmond Looi, said, “Embarking on the COJTC journey enabled our company to document our processes in an organised manner, helping us to provide proper training to our employees and partners.  ITE has been especially helpful in sharing its pedagogy with us, showing us how to develop a proper blueprint framework and guiding us each step of the way.  Every company which sees the value of On-the-Job-Training for their employees should join the ITE COJTC scheme."

Highlighting the importance of the Scheme for training skilled employees, Mr Aw York Bin, Deputy CEO (Industry), ITE, said, “In today’s context of industry transformation, work redesign, adoption of technology and digitalisation, there is an even greater need for companies to provide skills upgrading for their employees. ITE’s COJTC Scheme will enable companies to build their in-house training capability and culture. ITE’s role is to guide, train and support companies through this process.”
