What is ITE EAE

The ITE Early Admissions Exercise (ITE EAE) is an aptitude-based admissions exercise. If you have strong aptitude and passion in a field related to a Higher Nitec course, the ITE EAE is for you. We will also consider your relevant work experience and your achievements in sports, arts, leadership, entrepreneurship and community service.

If you are a student from a Specialised School for Normal Technical (SSNT), you will have an added advantage if you apply to a course that is related to your ITE Skills Subject Certificate (ISSC).

The application process involves an interview for each of your course choices (if shortlisted).

If your application is successful, you will receive a conditional offer in August 2025 for admission to one of your course choices under 2026 intake.

Your place in the course will be confirmed if you accept the conditional offer and your GCE N/O-Level or final Nitec examination results meet the Minimum Entry Requirements of the course.

Who Can Apply

For GCE N/O-Level Students:

  • Singapore Citizens (SC) and Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) who have registered to sit for the GCE N/O-Level examinations in the year of the ITE EAE application;
  • International Students (IS) enrolled in Government, Government-aided and Independent Schools during the year of the ITE EAE application, and who have registered to sit for the GCE N/O-Level examinations in the year of the ITE EAE application;
  • SC and SPR who have sat for the GCE N/O-Level examinations previously; and
  • SC and SPR working adults with at least 2 years of relevant work experience may also apply.

OR

For Nitec Progression Students:

  • SC, SPR and IS full-time Nitec or Traineeship students who will graduate in the same ITE academic year as the ITE EAEP;
  • SC and SPR who have graduated from ITE full-time Nitec or Traineeship courses; and
  • SC and SPR working adults with Nitec qualification and at least 2 years of relevant work experience may also apply.

    Direct Entry to 2nd Year of Higher Nitec Course
    Nitec students who wish to apply for direct entry to 2nd year of Higher Nitec courses should apply to Higher Nitec courses that are mapped to their Nitec course. Successful ITE EAEP applicants will be given a conditional offer for admission to the 1st year of the Higher Nitec course. Subsequently, students who meet the GPA requirement for direct entry to 2nd year of mapped Higher Nitec courses will be considered for direct entry to 2nd year (subject to merit and vacancies) alongside other Nitec students who applied through the Nitec Progression to Higher Nitec Intake Exercise (NCHN). Nitec students seeking direct entry to the 2nd year of a Higher Nitec course should note that the ITE EAEP conditional offer does not guarantee admission to the 2nd year of the Higher Nitec course, even if their final Nitec results meet the eligibility criteria as places are limited.

Deferment of National Service (NS) for NS-Liable Males

NS-liable males will be granted NS deferment for the pursuit of full-time studies at pre-university government-funded institutions including ITE if they attain a place and are pursuing a course for higher academic qualifications from what they have previously attained (e.g. from N/O Levels to Nitec/Higher Nitec, from Nitec to Higher Nitec or from Nitec/Higher Nitec to ITE Work-Study Diploma/Technical Engineer Diploma/Technical Diploma courses) and NS deferment will no longer be subject to cut-off ages. For latest updates on NS deferment eligibility and policy, you can visit https://for.edu.sg/ns-deferment. Students who are not eligible for NS deferment will need to withdraw from the course that they are enrolled in.
