This course prepares you for a profession in the chemical or biologics-pharmaceutical processing field. You will acquire skills to operate, monitor and control continuous or batch processes, maintain safety, health & environmental standards, and perform quality control in the biologics, petrochemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

The course duration is 1.5 years to 3 years.

Course is being phased out and is offered to ongoing students only.

What you'll learn

  • Organise storage and logistics of materials
  • Handle, store and transport chemical materials
  • Prepare for manufacturing process
  • Operate, monitor and control continuous or batch processes
  • Operate process plant and equipment
  • Maintain product quality
  • Provide routine and preventive maintenance and services to processes, equipment and instrumentation in the petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and process industries
  • Perform startup and shutdown operation in biologics, petrochemicals, and bio-pharmaceutical processes

Entry Requirements

  • 2 GCE ‘O’ Level Grades (Grade 1-8) in any two subjects; or
  • 3 GCE ‘N’ Level Passes (Grade A-D or Grade 1-5) in Mathematics or Science and two other subjects; or
  • Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking and Listening, and Level 4 in Reading and Numeracy.


Note:

Applicant applying for this course must be free from colour appreciation deficiency.  A score of 100% from the Colour Blindness Test taken here is mandatory for course admission.


Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission if they have a letter of sponsorship or employer’s recommendation. Applicants may have to go through an interview.
