Ever wondered how surveillance cameras or metal detectors are implemented during major events such as Formula 1 or National Day? Security Systems Engineering will give you a new insight on how security systems are planned and installed at strategic locations.

This diploma course prepares you for a promising career in the Security Technology industry. You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to design, install, integrate and manage the implementation of physical security projects, and maintenance of physical security systems to safeguard personnel, property and information.

Prerequisite:

Free from colour appreciation deficiency.

Job Role:

A Security Systems Engineer / Security Project Engineer is one who manages the implementation and maintenance of physical security systems, as well as design and integration of security solutions to safeguard personnel, property and information.

The work he/she performs includes the following:

  • Manage installation and upgrading of security systems
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance on security systems
  • Perform physical security risk assessment
  • Manage security solutions projects
  • Set up network infrastructure to support security systems
  • Provide technical support in security operations

What you'll learn

  • Design and manage different phases of security system projects
  • Plan work schedule and resources for installation and upgrading of security systems
  • Assess security operation requirements and monitor security operations and incidents
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance on security systems by implementing troubleshooting procedures
  • Set up network infrastructure such as network security features, server and storage system to support security systems

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;

    Nitec with GPA ≥ 2:

    • All courses from School of Engineering
    • All courses from School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology

    Higher Nitec:

    • All courses from School of Engineering
    • All courses from School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement

    +In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

  3. Free from colour appreciation deficiency
