Leveraging on ITE’s core strength in learning by doing, ITE Traineeship is a perfect programme for GCE 'N' or 'O' level graduates to gain a head start in their careers while pursuing a Higher National ITE Certificate (Higher NITEC), National ITE Certificate (NITEC) and ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) qualification.

Entry Requirements

The duration of ITE Traineeship Courses ranges from 1 to 2 years.

You will need an ISC, GCE ‘N’ Level, GCE ‘O’ Level or Nitec certification to apply for our Traineeship courses. Depending on the course applied for, some courses require a pass in English and/or Mathematics or Science.

You must be employed by a participating company in order to join a Traineeship course. Application for a Traineeship course is open to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents only.

Step 2 TRN
  • It is COMPULSORY to:
    • View the ITE Traineeship videos in Step 1
    • Book and attend an Online Pre-interview Session with an ITE officer.
  • Your application may be withdrawn if you do not view the ITE Traineeship videos and attend the online pre-interview session or company interview.

Step 3 TRN
  • You will have to complete the pre-interview session before proceeding with company selection and submission of document.
  • Refer to your verification slip (upon successful online application in Step 2) for the link to view a list of participating companies and salary information.
  • You will have to submit your company selection via FormSG. Our ITE officers will provide the QR code for company selection during the online pre-interview session. Please prepare the following for submission:
    1. Preferred list of companies based on your first-choice course
    2. Form N / Form J/ Examination Result Slip / Report Book
    3. Any other relevant document (eg. Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN))

ITE Community Scholarship (ITE CS)

(previously known as Community Development Council & Citizens’ Consultative Committee-Institute of Technical Education (CDC & CCC-ITE) Scholarship)

  • Singaporean GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ Level holders who have matriculated for ITE Traineeship courses and who are in the top 10% of the GCE ‘N’ or GCE ‘O’ Level entrants at each intake exercise are eligible for consideration for the ITE Community Scholarship. Successful recipients will be informed by the nearest Community Centre/Club (CC) in the constituency where they live to receive the award. No application is required.
  • Each scholarship will be awarded for the duration of the course. Renewal in the second year of study is subject to the recipient’s performance and conduct during the first year of study. The value of the award is $1,600 per year.

Deferment of National Service (NS) for NS-Liable Males

  • National Service (NS) liable males who are younger than 19 years old as at 1 January of the year you commence your traineeship course will have to check your eligibility for NS Deferment at the Central Manpower Base (CMPB).
  • Trainees who are not eligible for NS Deferment will need to withdraw from the course that you are enrolled.

During the period of traineeship, the trainee is an employee of the company and receives a monthly salary and enjoys benefits similar to other company employees. All course fees are paid fully by the sponsoring company.
