Have you ever thought of how the magic in movies are created?

Higher Nitec in Visual Effects will unravel the magic of creating spectacular visual effects for the exciting media & entertainment industry. You will learn how to create computer graphics elements and combine them with live-action to create a photo-realistic video sequence in a post-production environment in this course. You will also learn 3D Modelling, Rendering, Digital Sculpting, Rotoscoping, Dynamic FX, and Compositing.

Entry Requirements

GCE 'O' level grades in English Language, Mathematics/ Principles of Accounts and 1 approved subject:

  • Grade 1-8 in English Language
  • Grade 1-7 in Mathematics (Elementary/Additional) or Principles of Accounts*
  • Grade 1-8 in one other subject
    *To be eligible for selection, you must also have sat for Mathematics (Elementary/Additional).

Higher Nitec in Visual Effects graduates will be able to perform targeted jobs in visual effects which include Visual Effects Artist; Pre-visualisation artist; 3-D Modeller; Texture Artist; Lighter; Animator; Matte Painter; 3D Tracking Compositor; Rotoscoping Artist; and Compositor.

With working experience and further training, they will be able to progress to higher supervisory level jobs which include: Senior Visual Effects Artist; CG Supervisory; Lead Animator; Lead Modeller; Lead Lighter; Lead Compositor; Lead 3D Compositor and Technical Director.
