Do you want to know what makes a modern building smart, comfortable, and efficient? Are you interested in designing building systems using Building Information Modelling (BIM) and AutoCAD software?

Join the Built Environment workforce and gain the skills to create smart, green buildings that are good for our health and the environment. In this course, you will learn to design systems for air-conditioning, electrical work, plumbing, and fire safety.

This course empowers students to decode and craft M&E engineering drawings with flair, covering everything from air conditioning and ventilation to electrical circuits and fire protection systems. What you'll learn

Prepare working drawings and assist in the design of the following building facility systems with application software:

  • Air-conditioning and ventilation systems
  • Electrical installation and control systems
  • Fire protection and fighting systems
  • Water supply and sanitary systems

Entry Requirements

Admission to Year 1 of the 3-year curriculum structure:

GCE 'O' level grades in any 2 subjects:

  • Grade 1-8

or

GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics or Science* and 2 other subjects:

  • Grade A-D or Grade 1-5

* Mobile Robotics, Smart Electrical Technology, Mechanical Design & Automation, IoT Applications, and Mobile Web Applications subjects can be used in lieu of Science for admission to this Higher Nitec course.

Higher Nitec in Integrated Mechanical & Electrical Design graduates are employed by companies in the building industry. These include companies providing engineering consultancy services involved in building services such as electrical installations, air-conditioning ducting, fire protection, water supply and sanitary plumbing.
