Electricity, the most convenient and useful form of energy which keeps modern cities running. It is one of the evolving essential services with ever-changing needs.
This course will prepare you to perform a crucial role of ensuring electrical engineering and services are operational. This includes intelligent building control, sustainable energy and predictive maintenance driven by data analytics. It provides new job opportunities in promising areas such as electric vehicle charging infrastructure, solar photovoltaic and energy storage systems as well as smart home and intelligent building control solutions.
What you'll learn
- Ensure all electrical and related works are carried out in compliance with electrical and BIM drawings, specifications, relevant workplace safety and health regulations and codes of practice
- Manage maintenance of electrical motor installation and control systems
- Manage maintenance of electrical installations, electrical equipment, intelligent control, smart monitored emergency lighting, fire and lightning protection systems in buildings
- Manage operation and maintenance of smart home, intelligent building control and remote monitoring and data analytics systems
- Manage operation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic system, electric vehicle charging system and battery storage system

GCE 'O' level passes in English Language, Mathematics and 1 approved subject:
- Grade 1-8 in English Language
- Grade 1-7 in Mathematics (Elementary/Additional)
- Grade 1-8 in an approved subject: [Biology / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Combined Science / Computing / Computer Studies / Design & Technology / Electronics / Fundamentals of Electronics / Human & Social Biology / Integrated Science / Physics

- A total of 19 points or less for English, Mathematics and three other subjects (ELMAB3)*
* Eligible, graduating GCE N(A) students enrolled during the January intake under the Direct Entry Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP) will undergo 10 weeks of preparatory programme, followed by 2 years of Higher Nitec training.
