Design Your Dream Home

This course introduces students to engineering concepts in architectural and interior design. Students will have the opportunity to interpret architectural and interior design drawings, and use design and 3D modelling software to create 2D and 3D designs and models associated with layouts and furniture in residential and commercial spaces.

At the end of the module, students will be able to:

Explain and use various 2D drawing techniques and styles.
Identify and interpret standard abbreviations and conventional representations in architectural and interior design work.
Explain the concept of 3D modelling.
Create 3D design and models pertaining to design of apartment layouts.

S/N	Module Outline
1	Basic Drawing Techniques and Styles Apply the techniques of visualising drawing objects into basic shapes. Sketch simple outlines of various geometrical shapes. Illustrate the views obtained by different views and plans State the basic principles to be observed when making accurate dimensions.
2	Standard Abbreviation and Conventional Representations Used for Common Drawing Applications In Architectural and Interior Design List the standard abbreviation and conventional representations commonly used in architectural and interior design. Explain the general rules of creating dimensions and annotations to drawings. Explain the importance of creating dimensions and annotations to drawings.
3	Basic Concepts of 3D Models Navigate and display 3D models. Describe the way of creating models from 2D profiles.
4	Commands for Drawing and Editing 3D Models Explain the user interface of the CAD software Identify basic sketching tools and commands.
5	Rendering and Generating Multiple Views of 3D Models Outline the steps to configure render for different displays. Outline the steps to generate multiple views of 3D models.
6	Create 3D Models Identify the different features and function of editing 3D model Extract 3D model from the system library. Produce 3D model from the given layout drawing. Loading and saving the 3D file in the correct format.
