The Nitec in Electrical Technology (Lighting & Sound) course grooms the future heartbeat of creativity, live entertainment and live streaming industry. This engineering centred but practical-based course presents a unique opportunity to learn the fundamental skills and perspectives required to produce live shows for a broad range of live entertainment industry applications both physically and virtually. In addition, their skills and knowledge would be highly sought after in the MICE and hospitality sectors.

You will develop a high level of working knowledge and be equipped to install, operate and customise lighting, audio and visual systems. With industry attachments in leading events and audio visual companies, you will be able to experience the dynamic nature of the live or virtual entertainment industry first-hand.

What you'll learn

  • Liaise and coordinate with clients relating to the requirements of lighting, sound and visual media systems
  • Read and interpret drawings and diagrams of lighting, sound and visual media systems
  • Supervise packing, safe transportation and unpacking of lighting, sound and visual media systems
  • Set up, install, test, operate and maintain lighting, sound and visual media systems
  • Implement on-site safety programmes and ensure that lighting, sound and visual media systems for events and performances comply with regulations and requirements

Entry Requirements

GCE ‘O’ level grades in any 2 subjects:

  • Grade 1-8

or

GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics and 2 other subjects:

  • Grade A-D or Grade 1-5

Note:

  • Applicants for this course must ensure that they are free from colour appreciation deficiency.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Electrical Technology (Lighting & Sound) graduates with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 may apply for progression to the following Work-Study Diploma courses at ITE:


Nitec in Electrical Technology (Lighting & Sound) graduates with a GPA of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.

Nitec in Electrical Technology (Lighting & Sound) graduates with a GPA of 3.0 and above together with 2 years of relevant work experience may apply for progression to a related Technical Engineer Diploma course at ITE.
